As a pastor who is still fairly new to vocational ministry, I was not only honored to be asked to review this book by 9Marks, but I was excited to. Any opportunity to glean wisdom from men that have gone before me in this calling is an opportunity I want to take advantage of. In just under 300 pages, David Horner writes as a seasoned pastor to rookies and novices. He wants readers to know “how to develop and maintain a balanced spiritual life in the midst of challenging ministry situations” (10). And while there were certainly some wise words in these pages, I also identified some definite drawbacks.
You can read a brief excerpt below and follow the link at the bottom of the page to the whole review.

In his book, 7 Challenges Pastors Face: Overcome Common Struggles and Thrive in Ministry, David Horner lays out the difficulties of the course pastors are playing.
